Absolutely. Our support vehicle follows the group closely. If you feel tired, you can hop in the vehicle to rest for a section or for the remainder of the day. The goal is to enjoy the journey, not to endure it. We adjust to your pace.
The route primarily uses well-paved provincial roads and dedicated tourism roads, which are smooth and cyclist-friendly. You'll encounter everything from coastal flats to gentle mountain passes, all on quality asphalt.
We plan regular stops at villages, convenience stores, and scenic spots. The escort vehicle also carries a supply of water and basic snacks. We encourage you to try local fruits from roadside stalls for a refreshing boost!
We usually start after breakfast around 7:30-8:00 AM. We cycle with breaks every 1.5-2 hours for water, photos, and rest. Lunch is at a local restaurant along the route. We aim to arrive at the day's hotel by mid-to-late afternoon, giving you time to relax and explore.
Hainan is tropical, so it can be warm and humid. We start early to avoid the midday heat, take longer breaks during the hottest hours if needed, and ensure constant hydration. Wearing breathable clothing, sunscreen, and a hat is essential.
Our support vehicle is equipped with basic tools and common spare parts (like tubes). Our experienced leader or driver can handle most minor repairs on the spot. For major issues, we have contacts with bike shops along the route.
Many travelers join solo! It's a great way to meet like-minded people. For accommodations, we pair solo travelers of the same gender for twin-sharing rooms. If you prefer a single room, a single supplement option is available (please inquire).
Hotel breakfasts are usually Chinese-Western buffets. Lunches are at local restaurants where you can enjoy authentic Hainan cuisine, such as Wenchang chicken, seafood noodles, and fresh vegetable dishes. Dietary preferences can be accommodated with advance notice.
The total elevation gain each day is manageable, as Hainan's mountains are not extremely high. The climbs are generally long and gradual rather than short and steep. Days 7 and 8 have the most cumulative climbing as you ride along the scenic eastern hills.
Essential cycling gear: padded shorts, moisture-wicking jerseys, gloves, sunglasses. Personal items: high-SPF sunscreen, lip balm, electrolyte tablets, basic first-aid. Also, bring casual clothes for evenings, swimwear for the hotel pool or beach, and a small backpack for day use.
While the focus is cycling, we schedule arrivals at hotels by late afternoon, giving you free time to explore the local area, like Haitang Bay in Sanya. The rest day in Haikou at the end also allows for city exploration.
We ride as a loosely formed group. Faster riders can go ahead, knowing the route, with the leader often in the middle and the support vehicle at the back. We regroup at scheduled stops, crossroads, and for lunch. No one gets left behind.
We've chosen roads with relatively lower traffic volume, especially the west coast sections and tourism roads. The busiest sections might be approaching larger towns. We always ride in single file on the shoulder when needed and emphasize safety first.
On the final day, after a relaxed morning, we provide a private transfer to Haikou Meilan Airport. We ensure you arrive at the airport approximately 3 hours before your flight's departure time for a stress-free check-in.
Yes! Starting down the west coast allows you to build fitness on slightly gentler terrain initially. It also positions you to enjoy the often more scenic and culturally rich east coast in the latter half with stronger legs. The prevailing wind patterns can also be more favorable this way.
