Itinerary

  • | Elevation Gain: 630 m | Avg Gradient:0.21%
  • A long-distance "warm-up" from Sanya Bay into the island's interior, passing through Yacheng and Yucai to reach Ledong. The mild gradient belies the challenge of managing energy over a full century ride, setting the stage for the days to come

  • Elevation Gain: 1,177 m | Avg Gradient:0.51%
  • A substantial journey from Ledong deep into Hainan's heartland, skirting the Maogan Stone Forest and Xiangshui Town before arriving at the base of Wuzhishan in Shuiman Township. This leg demands sustained power to tackle over 1,100 meters of climbing, a true test of cycling endurance.

  • Task: Summit and descend Wuzhishan (Five Finger Mountain)
  • Hiking Distance: ~9 km (round trip) | Elevation Gain: 1,453 m
  • The pure, brutal core of the challenge. A non-cycling day dedicated entirely to conquering Hainan's pinnacle. This steep, technical, and exposed climb requires superior mountaineering ability, leg strength, and mental resilience. This is the defining test.

  • Distance: 100 km | Elevation Gain: 760 m | Avg Gradient:0.68%
  • The toughest ride on fatigued legs. Departing Shuiman Township via Sandao Town and Lizhigou, this return leg to Sanya Bay features the steepest average gradient. The relentless rolling and climbing terrain demands every last reserve of grit for a punishing finish back at the coast.

Frequently asked questions

This is a strictly self-guided and self-supported endurance expedition for expert-level athletes. We provide a detailed itinerary, pre-booked accommodations, and essential logistical support (e.g., luggage transfer), but there is no guiding team, support vehicle, or on-road assistance. You are fully responsible for navigation, pacing, safety, and bike maintenance.

Your luggage will be transported daily from your departure hotel to the next pre-booked accommodation. Please use a single, clearly labeled bag. You will ride with only essential day gear (tools, layers, nutrition, hydration).

Yes. You will receive a detailed GPX file of the entire route upon confirmation, which can be uploaded to a GPS device or smartphone app. It is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the route, elevation profiles, and key points.

It means you are entirely self-reliant during the ride. There is no following vehicle, mechanic, or guide to assist with navigation, repairs, fatigue, or emergencies. You must be proficient in bike maintenance, carry necessary tools, and manage your own safety and nutrition.

It is exclusively for highly experienced, physically fit endurance athletes and mountaineers. Participants must possess proven long-distance cycling competence, advanced bike-handling skills, off-road hiking ability, and the mental resilience to undertake a multi-day, unsupported challenge. Comprehensive insurance is mandatory.

Your safety is paramount. If unable to continue, contact us immediately via the emergency number. We will assist in arranging transportation (at your expense) to a safe location or next accommodation. There is no shame in a tactical withdrawal—this is an extreme challenge.

Yes. We offer 24/7 online/phone support for critical logistical or emergency coordination (e.g., luggage or accommodation issues). Note: This is not a substitute for on-the-spot rescue or mechanical assistance.

A capable mountain bike (hardtail or full-suspension) is mandatory. E-Bikes are permitted, but you are responsible for managing battery range and charging at overnight stops. All bikes must be in excellent mechanical condition.

The optimal window is November–March, during Hainan’s dry season, with cooler temperatures and less rainfall. Avoid the Chinese New Year period (late January/February) due to inflated prices and booking difficulties.

Participants should focus on building endurance for long-distance mountain cycling, including sustained climbs and technical descents. Incorporate multi-day back-to-back training sessions and practice self-supported riding, including navigation and basic bike repairs.

If severe weather (e.g., typhoons, heavy rain) is forecasted, we will contact you prior to the start to discuss postponement or cancellation. If conditions deteriorate during the challenge, prioritize safety and use the emergency protocol to arrange evacuation.
