This route is best suited for cyclists with some hill riding experience and good stamina. The climbs (noted as Grade 2-4) are challenging but manageable with steady pacing. Our support vehicle and leader ensure everyone can enjoy the ride safely, whether you’re an avid climber or prefer to take it slow.
These grades refer to slope steepness and length. A Grade 4 is a steady, longer ascent; Grade 3 is steeper but usually shorter. We pace climbs slowly, take breaks as needed, and the support vehicle is always behind for encouragement (or a lift if you wish). Think of them as rewarding challenges with breathtaking rainforest views at the top!
The rainforest is lush, humid, and can be cooler under the canopy. Sudden brief showers are possible. We recommend lightweight moisture-wicking clothing, a packable rain jacket, and quick-dry shoes. The fresh, oxygen-rich air is incredibly invigorating—perfect for climbing!
Each morning, your main luggage is collected from the hotel and transported directly to the next accommodation by our support vehicle. You ride with only a small daypack for essentials like water, snacks, and a camera. This keeps you light and free on the climbs.
Daily breakfast is included at the hotels. For lunch and dinner, we stop at authentic local eateries where you can enjoy Hainan’s mountain specialties—wild vegetable dishes, free-range chicken, river fish, and tropical fruits. Meals are hearty and perfect for refueling.
We select the best available local hotels, which are clean, comfortable, and equipped with private bathrooms, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi. They offer a warm, relaxing retreat after a day of rainforest exploration.
Our leader rides with the group, offering encouragement, sharing insights about the rainforest ecosystem and local culture, and ensuring everyone’s safety. They communicate regularly with the support vehicle and can assist with anything from route guidance to arranging a rest stop.
No worries at all. The support vehicle follows the group closely. You can take a break inside the vehicle for any section of a climb, then rejoin the ride when you’re ready. Many riders choose to challenge themselves, but your comfort always comes first.
Signal coverage is generally good in towns and on most road sections, but may be weak or intermittent in deep forest areas. We recommend downloading offline maps beforehand and using the opportunity to truly disconnect and immerse in nature.
Besides standard cycling gear, consider: high-SPF waterproof sunscreen, insect repellent, a lightweight long-sleeve layer for forest shade, a small quick-dry towel, electrolyte tablets, and waterproof bags for electronics. Don’t forget a sense of adventure!
Yes! The route passes through villages where you might see traditional homes and farming methods. Our leader shares stories about local customs, and if timing allows, we may visit a cultural site or market. It’s a gentle, respectful glimpse into mountain life.
The support vehicle carries ample water, electrolyte drinks, fresh fruit, and energy snacks. We schedule rest stops every 1.5–2 hours. In very remote sections, we ensure everyone carries two water bottles and extra snacks provided each morning.
The road is newly opened and well-paved, making for smooth riding. It winds through mountains with occasional winding sections—all part of the adventure! Traffic is very light, offering a peaceful, immersive experience.
After completing the final ride into Qiongzhong, we’ll have a celebratory lunch together. Then, we’ll transfer you by comfortable vehicle to Haikou (about 2 hours). You’ll check into a hotel near the airport, ready for your departure the next day.
This is a journey into Hainan’s “green heart.” Instead of ocean views, you’ll pedal through misty mountains, listen to birdsong, breathe deeply in ancient forests, and experience the island’s serene, lesser-known interior—a true escape for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
