In response to public concerns regarding sea crossings, we have compiled a “Ten Questions and Answers” section addressing the most frequently asked questions.
question 1 :When is the peak period of the 2026 Spring Festival travel season?
answer:
The inbound travel peak (to the island) is expected to occur from February 13 (Lunar December 26) to February 15 (Lunar December 28), while the outbound travel peak (from the island) is projected between February 21 (Lunar January 5) and February 24 (Lunar January 8). It is recommended to avoid these peak dates and book tickets in advance.
question 2 :When are ferry tickets available for purchase?
answer:
The advance purchase period for outbound tickets (Haikou to Xuwen) will be adjusted to 30 days from Lunar January 1 (January 19) to Lunar January 25 (February 12). Starting from Lunar January 26 (February 13), the advance purchase period will revert to 15 days.
For inbound tickets (Xuwen to Haikou), the advance purchase period remains 15 days.
Ticket sales open daily at 9:00 AM.
question 3 :Is it necessary to purchase tickets in advance?
answer:
Yes. Please remember the rule: “Trucks must reserve crossings in advance, and passenger vehicles must purchase tickets early.” Vehicles without pre-purchased tickets will be restricted from entering the port.
question 4 :After purchasing tickets, when should passenger vehicles arrive at the port?
answer:
Passenger vehicles should arrive at the port within 2 hours before the scheduled departure time, as indicated in the SMS notification.
question 5 :What are the official ticket purchase channels?
answer:
You can book tickets in advance through the following official platforms:
“轮渡管家” (Ferry Butler) App/WeChat Mini Program
“新海港” (Xinhai Port) WeChat Official Account
“琼州海峡轮渡管家” (Qiongzhou Strait Ferry Butler) WeChat Official Account
question 6 :Can I purchase round-trip ferry tickets at once?
answer :
The WeChat service accounts for “Qiongzhou Strait Ferry Butler” and “Xinhai Port” have newly launched a round-trip ticket package purchase function. Payment for round-trip tickets must be completed within 10 minutes. The purchase is only considered successful if both orders are paid successfully.
question 7 :Do I need to collect a paper ticket for the sea crossing?
answer :
No. Passenger vehicles, individual travelers, and trucks departing from the island do not need paper tickets. A valid ID document is sufficient for the crossing.
question 8 :Are ferry tickets interchangeable between Xiuying Port and Xinhai Port?
answer:
No. Tickets for Xinhai Port and Xiuying Port are not interchangeable. If your travel plans change, you may refund your ticket and repurchase a new one before the scheduled departure time.
question 9 :If tickets are unavailable online, can I purchase passenger vehicle tickets at the on-site counters?
answer:
The port ticketing platform has launched a ticket waiting list function. If you have not secured a ticket, you may apply for the waiting list option through the ticketing system. After payment for a waiting list order, the system will attempt to match you with an available sailing. The waiting list request is only successful if a match is confirmed, and you will be notified via SMS.
Important: Vehicles without a successfully purchased ticket must not proceed to the port. There are no on-site ticket counters for passenger vehicles. If tickets are unavailable online, they will also be unavailable at the port.
question 10 :How can I request an invoice?
answer :
You can apply for an electronic invoice through the official ticketing platforms anytime between 6 hours after departure and within 90 days. Here’s how:
1 Open the “Ferry Butler” Mini Program, go to “Me” → “E-Invoice”.
2 Open the “Xinhai Port” WeChat Official Account, click “Ticket Services” → “Book Tickets” → “My Orders”.
3 Use the “Qiongzhou Strait Ferry Butler” WeChat Official Account, click “Flight Services” → “My Orders”.
