The old house of Madame Soong Ching-ling’s family is located at Changsha Town 昌洒镇 Wenchang Hainan Island, about a 1-hour drive from Wenchang city center.
Soong Ching-ling’s Great-Grandfather, Grandfather, lived here. Her father, Mr. Soong Charlie Jones, ne Han Chiao-shun, was born here in 1861. Mr. Soong Charlie Jones visited his family in the 1920s after his return from the US. But Madam Soong and her siblings never visited or stayed in this house. They were all born in Shanghai. Only T.V. Soong, the oldest son, visited his hometown in 1937. So, actually, the house is also the ancestral home of Madam Chiang Kai-shek.

To memorize the great contributions that her family made to China, the Wenchang Government rebuilt Soong Ching-Lings’ Home, with a big statue of Madame Soong Ching-ling. There is an exhibition room where tourists will see many old pictures of Madame Soong Ching-Ling, Madame Chiang Kai-shek, and all the important figures in contemporary China including Chiang Kai-shek, Chairman Mao. For tourists with no Chinese, then it is a big challenge as all the exhibitions are in Chinese only.
