Journey to the Heart of Wuzhishan
Begin with culture at the Hainan Museum of Ethnic Minorities, then discover the breathtaking Yahu Terrace—a living masterpiece of emerald steps cascading through mountains and forests. Immerse yourself in a harmonious world where history and nature unite.
Tour Highlights: An Unforgettable Immersion
A Living Cultural Heritage: Go beyond viewing scenery. Learn how the Li people have sustainably sculpted and farmed these slopes since the Qing Dynasty, following the profound ecological principle of “forests above, terraces on the slopes, and villages below.” Your visit includes a precious opportunity to interact with a local family, offering a warm, personal glimpse into their way of life.
Seasonal Symphony: Witness the terraces transform with the seasons. Time your visit for the mirror-like waters of irrigation seasons (Jan-Feb, Aug-Sep), the vibrant emerald carpets of growing seasons (Mar-May, Oct-Nov), or the golden glow of harvest (Jun, Dec). Each season offers a unique and breathtaking vista.
Curated Comfort & Insight: Travel in the comfort and style of a private Volvo V90. Your experience is enriched by an English-speaking guide who brings the landscape’s stories to life, a delicious local lunch, and all admission fees handled seamlessly.
Helpful Tips for Your Visit

What’s Included:
Private round-trip transportation from Sanya by Volvo V90, services of a professional English-speaking guide, admission tickets to the Hainan Museum of Ethnic Minorities and Yahu Terrace, and a specially arranged local lunch.
It's about an hour and a half from downtown Sanya. We use a comfortable Volvo van. Most of the route is highway, with the last section into the village being a winding mountain road, but our drivers are very experienced.
The walk is mostly along flat ridges and viewing platforms, so it's not strenuous. However, the ridges can be narrow and slippery after rain, so good grip shoes are a must. Seniors or those with limited mobility should watch their step.
We arrange lunch at a local specialty restaurant where you can try farmhouse dishes and Li cuisine. If you have dietary restrictions (e.g., no spice, vegetarian), please let us know in advance so we can inform the restaurant.
It's simple: just be respectful and friendly. A smile and greeting are great. You can ask if you should remove shoes before entering. Always ask for permission before taking photos of people.
Yes, the tour proceeds. Terraces shrouded in mist after rain look like a fairyland—it's a different but equally beautiful and rare sight. We provide disposable raincoats, but bringing an umbrella is also a good idea.
It's beautiful all year round! Spring and summer are lush green like jade. Autumn harvest brings golden tones. In winter and early spring when irrigated, the terraces look like mirrors reflecting the sky—very dreamy.
There are simple public restrooms near the viewing platforms. Villages have small shops for water and simple snacks, but the selection is limited. We recommend bringing enough drinking water with you.
The guide will explain Li culture, the history of the terraces, and the farming wisdom. At the terraces, we leave plenty of time for free photography and leisurely enjoyment—we won't rush you.
Yes, we recommend at least one 500ml bottle of water per person. UV rays are strong in the mountains, so please take sun protection seriously even on cloudy days: wear a hat and apply sunscreen.
Absolutely! Visiting the museum first helps you better understand the scenery and people you'll encounter at the terraces. It features beautiful ethnic costumes and fascinating displays of daily life.
The last mountain section has many curves. If you're prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking medication half an hour in advance and trying to sit in the front. We keep plastic bags in the vehicle just in case.
Sometimes villagers sell fruits, honey, or handicrafts. Feel free to bargain politely if interested. If you don't have cash, you can ask if mobile payment is accepted, but signal in the mountains can be unreliable.
The schedule is relaxed. We depart at 9 AM and return to downtown Sanya around 6 PM. There's no rush, with plenty of time to enjoy the experience.
Of course. This is your private tour, and your safety and comfort come first. Please inform your guide and driver immediately, and we will adjust the schedule flexibly according to your needs.
Thank you for caring! The best ways are: take all your trash with you, avoid trampling crops on the ridges, stay within designated areas, and learn about the local culture with respect.
